Open’er Festival is Poland’s largest international music festival and one of the most attended in Central Europe. Held each year at the beginning of July at Gdynia’s Kosakowo Airport — a decommissioned military airfield that provides a vast open space for multiple stages — it draws headline acts from across rock, pop, electronic, and hip-hop alongside Polish artists with strong followings at home. The festival has been running since 2002 and has hosted acts including Radiohead, Kendrick Lamar, Billie Eilish, Florence and the Machine, and many others.
2027 dates: Open’er Festival 2027 is scheduled for 30 June – 3 July 2027 at Gdynia-Kosakowo Airport. Tickets and the headline lineup are announced at opener.pl, typically in autumn of the preceding year.
The Festival Site
The airport site gives Open’er an unusually spacious layout compared to most European festivals. Four or five stages operate simultaneously across the grounds, ranging from the main stage capable of holding tens of thousands to smaller tented stages for electronic music and emerging artists. The site also contains an extensive food and drink area, art installations, and a camping zone for those staying on-site across the four days.
Tickets and Camping
Day tickets and full four-day passes are available. Full passes with on-site camping are consistently the best-value option for visitors travelling specifically for the festival. The camping zone is well-organised with toilet and shower facilities; standards are comparable to major UK or German festivals.
Gdynia is part of the Tri-City (Trojmiasto) metropolitan area alongside Gdansk and Sopot. The three cities share a rapid urban rail network (SKM) that makes it straightforward to base yourself in any of the three and commute to the festival site. Gdansk has the widest accommodation options and is the most visited of the three for historical reasons; Sopot has a beach resort character; Gdynia has a modernist interwar cityscape that rewards a few hours of exploration.
Getting to the Festival
From Gdynia Glowna station, shuttle buses run to the festival site during the event. Journey time is approximately 20 minutes. Shuttle information and timetables are published on the Open’er website before the festival. Arriving by car is possible but parking is limited; the shuttle is the recommended approach.
For the broader Tri-City area, see our Gdansk city guide and Gdansk things to do guide for context on what to see and where to stay. Combined with a few days in Gdansk’s remarkable Old Town and along the waterfront, Open’er makes an excellent anchor for a longer visit to northern Poland.
For organised experiences in the area, a Gdansk city sights and history guided walking tour covers the Old Town, the shipyard district, and the waterfront — a well-paced introduction if you arrive a day early before the festival.
