Hotels in Poland: Where to Stay in Every City

Poland offers excellent value compared to Western Europe. Kraków in particular consistently ranks as one of Europe's most affordable city-break destinations — a well-located mid-range hotel in the Old Town typically runs PLN 200–400 (approximately €45–90) per night. Warsaw is somewhat more expensive, reflecting its status as the capital and a major business hub.

Beyond the cities, the Tatra Mountains have a network of mountain shelters (schroniska) for trekkers, and the Baltic coast has resort hotels suited to summer beach stays. We have written detailed where-to-stay guides for all major Polish cities and regions covered on this site.

Types of Accommodation

Historic City-Centre Hotels

Kraków's Old Town, Warsaw's Śródmieście, and Wrocław's Market Square are all walkable districts with boutique hotels in renovated tenement buildings. Expect PLN 200–500 (approximately €45–115) per night for a well-located double room.

Mountain Lodges (Schroniska)

The Tatra Mountains have a network of PTTK mountain shelters (schroniska) accessible only on foot. These are basic dormitory-style accommodation used by trekkers — an essential part of any Tatra hiking itinerary. Costs typically run PLN 60–120 per person, per night.

Budget Hostels

Poland has strong hostel infrastructure in Warsaw, Kraków, Wrocław, and Gdańsk. Kraków in particular — popular for hen and stag parties — has dozens of well-run hostels with dorm beds from approximately PLN 50–90 ($13–23) per night.

Baltic Coast Resorts

Sopot, Gdańsk, and the Hel Peninsula have resort-style hotels suited to beach holidays. Peak summer prices (July–August) rise significantly — book ahead. Shoulder season (May–June, September) offers much better value.
