LOT Polish Airlines Launches Direct Warsaw–Bangkok Flights from October 2026
LOT Polish Airlines has confirmed that direct year-round flights between Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW) and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi (BKK) will begin on 7 October 2026. The service will operate five times per week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Flight LO65 departs Warsaw in the afternoon with a flight time of 10 hours 20 minutes westbound. The return service, LO66, departs Bangkok in the morning, with a slightly longer return leg of around 11 hours 55 minutes.
Why the Route Matters
This is a significant expansion for Polish travellers and for tourists from Southeast Asia visiting Central Europe. Previously, passengers travelling between Poland and Thailand had to connect through hubs such as Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Doha, or Dubai — adding at least four to six hours to the journey.
For visitors to Poland, the Bangkok route opens a direct entry point into Warsaw, from which connections to Kraków, Gdańsk, and Wrocław by train take two to three hours. LOT also operates domestic and regional connections from Warsaw to smaller Polish cities.
Aircraft and Cabin
LOT will operate the route using its long-haul fleet. Business and economy cabins will be available, with Business class featuring lie-flat seats. Tickets are currently bookable at lot.com. Economy fares for the October–December 2026 winter period were visible from approximately PLN 2,200 (around €500) return at the time of announcement, though prices vary with booking timing and availability.
Background: A Long-Awaited Route
The Bangkok route had been under discussion since 2023 and was developed in close cooperation with the Tourism Authority of Thailand and the Thai Embassy in Warsaw. LOT’s CEO described it as one of the most strategically important long-haul additions in the airline’s recent history, reflecting both growing demand from Polish travellers headed to Southeast Asia and increasing interest from Thai visitors exploring Central Europe.
Practical Notes for Travellers
- Check-in and transit: Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW) is well connected to the city centre by rail (approximately 20 minutes to Warsaw Central) and bus, and pre-booked airport transfers are available for direct hotel pickup after a long-haul arrival. For flights, transfers, and transport options, see our flights to Poland guide.
- Visas: Thai nationals visiting Poland (and the wider Schengen Area) should check current visa requirements with their embassy. Polish nationals travelling to Thailand benefit from a 30-day visa-on-arrival, extendable in-country.
- Timing: The inaugural departure on 7 October falls in Poland’s autumn season — cooler, with shorter daylight hours but far less crowded cities and competitive accommodation rates.
